This was a very special concert, the first time that I was performing with a tabla player after the pandemic, about a year and a half. It was also a reunion with my friend Mir, our faces and the music are full of smiles.

The full concert is about an hour and a half and is a guided concert of north Indian classical music: in addition to performing, we explain and demonstrate some aspects of this wonderful music to enlighten the listeners.

Set list includes…

Raga Bhimpalasi, compositions by Pt. Alok Lahiri in jhaptaal (10 beats) and teental (16 beats)

Jai Love, dhun in Raga Desh

Tabla solo and tarana in raga Bhairavi

"North Indian classical music uses the unique musical form of the 'raga' or 'raag' to stir the emotions of the audience and performers, moving them towards a state of focused joy and harmony. Joel and Mir, both seasoned performers in the art form, present a concert of North Indian music with explanation and demonstration to guide listeners in an understanding and appreciation of the form and substance of the music." - from hartsne.org
